If a tree just came down on your property

01 / SAFETY

Clear the area

Everyone out from under the damaged section. If lines are involved: stay back, call your utility or 911 first.

02, DOCUMENT

Photograph everything

Wide shots and closeups before anything moves. Your claim depends on these.

03, REQUEST HELP

24/7 dispatch

Submit it through our quote form, we triage immediately and dispatch same-day for anything on a structure.

04, INSURER

Open the claim

Call your insurer's claim line. We provide the photos and itemized invoice their adjuster needs.

Do not cut anything yourself. A trunk resting on a house is under load, limbs are spring-loaded and release violently when cut. This is the one job where DIY regularly puts people in hospital.

Does insurance cover tree removal in Ontario?

The honest version nobody publishes: coverage depends on what the tree hit, and the removal itself is usually capped well below what people expect.

Tree on the house / garage / shed
Covered under most Ontario homeowner policies, removal from the structure plus repairs, minus your deductible. This is the classic covered claim.
Tree fell in the yard, hit nothing
Usually NOT covered. Insurers treat a tree on the lawn as landscaping loss. You're paying out of pocket, which is why our storm rates are written and firm.
The removal-cost cap
Even on covered claims, most policies cap the tree removal line at $500–$1,000 per tree, the structure repair is paid separately. Read your policy's 'tree removal' limit before assuming it's all covered.
Neighbour's tree, your roof
Storm-felled healthy tree: your policy pays for your side, theirs for theirs. If their tree was visibly dead and they'd been warned, liability can shift, that's what an arborist report is for.
On covered claims we photograph before/during/after, itemize the invoice the way adjusters want it, and can bill the insurer directly. Disputed liability (neighbour's tree, "was it already dead?") is settled with an arborist report.

Emergency pricing, straight

Emergency work costs more than planned work, crane time, after-hours crews, and unstable trees are slower and riskier. What we don't do is storm-chaser pricing: you get a written number before we start, even at 2 AM.

Limb off house / driveway blocked
Hung or fallen limbs, access restored same visit.
$300–$800
Tree on structure
Rigged or crane-assisted lift-off, tarping of the opening included.
$1,500–$4,000
After-hours callout
Nights, weekends, mid-storm, added to the job rate, told to you up front.
+$250–$500

Storm & insurance questions

Does home insurance cover tree removal in Ontario?

Generally yes when the tree hit an insured structure, house, garage, fence, shed. Removal from the structure and repairs are covered minus your deductible. A tree that falls and hits nothing is usually treated as landscaping and not covered.

How much does insurance pay for tree removal in Ontario?

Most Ontario policies cap the removal itself at $500–$1,000 per tree even on covered claims; structure repair is paid separately. Check your policy's tree removal limit, and keep photo documentation, we provide it on every emergency call.

Who is responsible when a tree falls on a neighbour's property?

Healthy tree in a storm: each owner claims their own damage, it's an act of God. Tree that was visibly dead or hazardous and ignored: liability can shift to its owner. An arborist report is the evidence that settles it either way.

How fast can you get here?

We monitor emergency requests 24/7 and triage immediately. Trees on structures or blocking driveways are same-day, usually within hours. After a county-wide storm we work a priority queue: structures first, then access, then yard cleanup.
